What is CE cable?

The letters CE, also known as CE Marking, indicates that a product has been proven/tested to meet European legislation on health, safety and environmental compliance, and facilitates free trade across the European market.

FAQ

  1. CE Marking Directives are aimed at finished products, not at the component level. In general, wire and cable products used in machines and appliances do not require CE marking.
The wire or cable itself does not have a specific use or application, because it can be used in a number of different ways. The compliance of the finished product containing the wires is determined by testing related to the finished product. The compliance of the wire used in this product is based on this specific application and the wire product’s performance in this finished product.

  2. According to the latest standard of CE Marking for cable and wire product, it only applies to cables when the cables are permanently installed into buildings, since 1st July 2017.
The new European standard, EN50575 covers the reaction of cables to fire, including flame spread, smoke generation, the formation of molten droplets and acid content.
